Text: WHAT IS THE AROMANTIC SPECTRUM? Not everyone is fully alloromantic or aromantic. Between these poles a wide and diverse spectrum can be found. People on the aromantic spectrum usually experience romance, romantic attraction, romantically connotated actions and/or the desire for romantic relationships differently from the norm. 1/3

Some do know something like platonic schwarmerei and the sudden appearance of strong platonic feelings for other people, which can be called a squish (term analog to ‘crush’). 2/3

For some people on the aromantic spectrum and beyond it’s helpful to name and differentiate different forms of attraction (e.g. sexual, romantic, platonic, aesthetic). This can help to phrase the own feelings and needs. The experience of attraction(s) is highly individual. Other aros find differentiating isn’t relevant or helpful. 3/3

Sometimes alloaros can feel left out and/or alienated in our a*spec communities. Because we sometimes forget that not everyone is aroace or alloace and that there are people who are sex-favourable whom we hurt when we talk negatively about sex-related topics. Not saying one’s not allowed to vent about the seemingly omnipresence of sex. But we should be more conscious about where we do that and how we word it. Because making alloaros feel out of place is a shitty thing to do and we should stop that.”

Runder Sticker auf grauem Grund. Mittig darauf ist das Logo des TAS/ASVD. Das besteht aus einer stilisierten Weltkugel, durchzogen von Längen- und Breitengeraden, sowie davor einer Pfeilspitze. Beides in den Farben der Aro-Flagge. Darum herum, am Rand des Stickers steht in weißer Schrift „Aromantic Spectrum Visibility Day – aromanticspectrumday.net – 25. August“.
